…running late on the snapshot for yesterday and post for today. Em slipped in the shower and split her chin. Last night we spent over three hours in the emergency room at CHOC waiting for the doctor to give her twelve stitches. She was a real good sport about the whole thing.
As soon as we told her she had to go to the hospital she didn’t cry or panic, she went straight to the important business of figuring out what to wear–changing her shoes several times and picking out just the right hat. As we left the house her perfect ER attire clung to her still slightly wet body and her wet hair (twisted up in a messy bun) dripped down her back, but she looked adorable. I could tell it was comforting to her.
One note about the ER at CHOC, it was incredible to me that families came together, in packs of 5 or 6, all kids in tow. One sick child curled up in a parent’s lap and the other kids rolling on the floor, laying across the chairs, and playing with the toys provided by the hospital. (ewww) All the time, waiting patients hurled and groaned in seats next to them.
Germs! Germs! Germs! I could just feel the menacing germs swirling around the room.
Parents! Common sense called and left you a message: Keep the well kiddies at home with one parent!

Good grief. The hospital has turned into the free clinic everywhere. Hope Em is feeling better this morning;)

I’ve seen that exact scenario played out in our local ER. I always have to go home and shower when I leave that place. (Scrub until the skin comes off is more like it) Fortunately, Snow White has only had to make a handful of visits to that godforsaken place…..I hope I didn’t just jinx her!
I didn’t find that charm book this weekend….but I’m not giving up hope!!

In Southern Utah you see no daddy, 13 mommies, & 57 children….all from ONE family 🙂 More to stare and be stared at.
Poor Em, that’s a lot of stitches, she’ll get a lot of attention at school!

That is too bad. The chin always gets the blunt of those kind of falls. At least it will not be visable so much once it heals.

I bet you doused yourself in a vat of Purell when you got home. YUUUK.
Hope Em is on the mend!

Em is a girl after my own heart and passion for clothes – she’s a trooper and a fashion maven.

That’s a sure sign she’s a future derby girl–making sure she looked good while acting so tough!
I confess though, the whole scenario reminds me of times when a few of our girls had to go to hospitals post bouts… In Davis, we had the whole team, two refs, our video guy and Mom LOL hanging out in the ER. And we ordered pizza–at least we ate it outside in the van, right..? Cripes though, if you think the families were bad, you’d have hated our whooping when they finally called Wrecky’s number ^__^

oh my.. it’s 12:23 and I just returned from CHOC myself. I too, was wondering why everyone feels the need to bring all family members to the er… I left my husband and daughter home sleeping. My son on the other hand, has a fractured right elbow.

I have had too many memories sitting and waiting in the emergency room.
BUT at least she’ll have a sweet story to tell and a battle scar!

eeeww yep I’m with you on that one, hope your daughter heals up.
