30 Second Sunday: Newport Beach

November 16, 2008 By: Suzanne Moshenko12 Comments

I’m trying something new today. I like the idea of a series of short, 30 second, video clips from different locations in Orange County. In fact, I like the idea so much I’m starting this “30 Second Sunday” series.

It might change from week to week until I get the hang of it. Please let me know if you like it. I would love it if other people got involved and posted their own, but let’s just take baby steps for now…baby steps uploading on Vimeo…baby steps uploading it to my blog….(A little “What about Bob” reference.)

Newport Beach, November 13, 2008

Shot entirely on my Flip camera.

Good idea. I like it. You need to use a different camera. The quality is too poor on that one. I think ambient sound would be better. But, I do like it the idea.

Hey Grant. Thanks for the comment. I am saving up for an HD camera. I know the Flip doesn’t look so hot in distance shots, but for now, it will have to do. I agree with you about ambient sound. It was my intention to use it, but all the footage I have had a woman coughing through the entire clip. Not so pretty. Next time I will try to be more aware of what is happening around me when I’m shooting.
Thanks again for all of your comments and encouragement. I appreciate it.
Aaron, I know! such a great movie.

I agree with Grant. The quality of your camera isn’t good enough for this sort of shooting. I like the idea and I like that you are always tying new ways of “showing” Orange County. I hope you can get a new camera soon. That said, you still are awesome. 🙂
Looking forward to what you are going to do next.

I love it, I think the flip camera gives it a bit of a nostalgic mood that would be hard to acccomplish with a HD camera. Thanks for sharing this new series! I’ll be looking forward to it on Sundays! 😀

I like this a lot. The beach looks beautiful. I live 7 miles from the beach, but can’t tell you the last time I went. So bad of me. 🙂
I don’t know anything about Vimeo. I will have to look into it.

A wonderful idea. And perfect for you to combine your two loves; video + OC
I may try to participate. But um MY camera is worst than your Flip!

It’s Monday afternoon, and I am just catching up on your posts. Just so you know, my eyes are welling up after reading/viewing this entry. It wasn’t enough that you hit me with “Into the Mystic”, but the beach scenes and the #22 Lifeguard Station just sent me over the edge:)
This weekend, we will celebrate our 22nd wedding anniversary on the 22nd. I may have to run out and pick up a Van Morrison cd for the trip:)
    Thanks, Suz!

YES! Love the idea. I think the use of all different kinds of cameras would make it more interesting. HD sometimes, FLIP…I like it.
