I haven't been feeling blue, but when I downloaded my pictures from the last few days there was a theme: They were all steeped in these blues. The top picture are some shop fronts in Costa Mesa, the far right is the Edison Power Plant in Huntington Beach (see Martha's post about them here) and the last two are from Old Towne Orange. A cute little birdie and a wall decoration from an antique store there….see what I did?

All this blue got me humming "Almost Blue" and then "Perfect Blue Buildings" by Counting Crows and then I couldn't help myself and I made you this mixed tape of all "blue" songs.
Surprise! It's a little sad. The poor color blue is saddled with heartbreak and melancholy. If it weren't for blue skies, there wouldn't be any cheerful songs involving blue. I wonder if the color yellow rubs that in, like Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is SO uplifting…Am I the only one who thinks of this sort of thing?
Perfect Blue Buildings, Almost Blue, Blue Monday, No Blue Skies, Suite Judy Blue Eyes, Famous Blue Raincoat, Mr. Blue Skies, Blue Skies, Goodbye Blue Skies, and Forever in Blue Jeans.
For once I appreciate the lack of link.
And I never get tired of your photo collages. Ever.
Great collage! Yes, you are the only one. But I’m glad you do think of stuff like that, that’s what makes reading you fun!
I am really into blue at the moment. I hope it isn’t because I’m sad. I don’t feel sad?
Love the pics as always!
I love the pattern of the buildings. Blue is my favorite color.
Love the blue doors on those quanset huts. What, no “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain?” or is that too sad?
Cool mixed tape.
I love blue! And I love these;)
Great pictures Suz…..I love all the blue songs….
I really love Blue Christmas though…
😛
I just love your blog. It always makes me smile, even on “blue” days.
That little bird is so cute 🙂
I love that little blue bird!! Your pix are always so great. I can’t wait to check out picnik 🙂
I think like that too. I’m a music-aholic and I often think in terms of songs or groups of songs. It’s kind of nice to know I’m not the only one. I see you’ve now met my good buddy Alan from A Round World Through Square Glasses. He’s great … and also thinks very much in terms of music! 🙂 Oh – and I just noticed Jason on your blogroll too. He’s my buddy too. The Internet is a small, small world sometimes!
I love your collages, Suz!
It´s a happy blue collage to me. It can be taken in so many ways, which is a good thing.
Awesome! I’ve been wanting to get a picture of those power plants forever and just have never done it.
I think feeling a little blue is necessary sometimes, because then you appreciate the sunny days more passionately. Cheers!
Linked to your blog from Eli’s Lids – what a great blog you have! Love your pictures and love the unintentional blue theme of these pictures.
These are beautiful blue-pics 🙂 I especially love the power plant shot.
We live semi-close to that power plant. My kids call it the Chocolate Factory.
Love your blog!
