Orange County Daily Photo: Giant Wheel in the sky

The Irvine Spectrum’s Giant Wheel is one of my favorite things to photograph. You can see my other photos of it Here and Here.

Something about this particular picture of it makes me happy.

For SkyWatch Friday. If you ever ask yourself, “I wonder what the sky looks like in Pensacola today?” You can go to SkyWatch Friday and see the sky from every corner of the planet. Believe it or not, there are over 350 people in the world who think this is a spectacular idea and enter their photos every week–mine’s just one.

Today I am listening to: Crowded House “Weather with you.”

You can go to my BLIP.fm Channel to listen to all my songs.

A great capture! Imagine the view from up there …. however, not for me thank you – it’s way, way too high!

It is the photo composition or the thought of riding this wheel or both that creates the smile?

That is one awesome photo and I really like the angle you have taken it from. It must be huge.
    Happy SWF.

Very nice – almost an upside-down smile – if you look at it that way. But the clouds definitely make it “wonderland-like”. Happy SWF.

Big wheels are always great in photos and this is really good.
Crowded House continues your excellent choices of 80´s music that I still listen and love. Weather With You might be their biggest hit but there is a lot more gems in their albums as Neil Finn is a genius.

Photos of HOME!!! Thank you for these. They are all so evocative. The sort of thing I never took photos of while we were still there, but that bring back such vivid memories. The Taffy shack that I walked by how many times in the years I lived on the Peninsula? The Corona del Mar sky in the morning. The big ferris wheel that we never did go on before we moved. I see us in all of these places, and though it makes me even more homesick, it also connects me to home, and who I really am. So thank you for posting them.

I love that the ride is empty and calm. My two haven’t taken a ride on it yet. When that happens, the calm will be gone. Your OC photos are fabulous. I always look forward to seeing what you will shoot next.

I haven’t ever been on this thing. I always want to, but get sidetracked by Nordstrom, Anthro, BeBe, etc.

Excellent capture. You definitely capture the “giant” aspect of it, and it’s beautiful.
