Shag around OC, I am there

November 17, 2007 By: Suzanne Moshenkocomment

OC Weekly has a feature this week about the artist Shag. I discovered his art while visiting a friend in Palm Springs,
here. (one of my first posts ever)

Wall-to-wall-shag, by Greg Stacy is a very good review of his show at Laguna Arts Museum. I like this kind of writing, ambivalent and thoughtful. His opinion of Shag, the artist, is right on.

I know next-to-nothing about the study of art, film, wine, or anything really. That is why it is helpful for me to read something and recognize my own opinion in it, even when I didn’t realize I had formulated one. (Does this makes me sound like an idiot? I can live with that.) My only disagreement is in Stacy’s opinion of Hell, I still don’t want to go there. Even if is like a big Shag illustration.

I am going to the show, (Wayne Thiebaud is showing too!) and probably buying a Shag t-shirt (and possibly even a Thiebaud cake mold), can’t help myself. I am a hopeless consumer.
