Evacuating a Zoo

October 22, 2007 By: Suzanne Moshenkocomment

Came home last night to find the house filled with smoke. There are fires just a mile from here. I had left the door open for the dogs, so the house is now covered in a thin coat of ashes. There was talk of voluntary evacuations but the wind shifted and we were out of harms way.
I started to prepare to leave, just in case; I got the bird’s cage out, the leashes, the cat carrier, put the bunny in his portable cage and made sure the lizard had worms. This is like evacuating a zoo. Where could we go with EVERYONE? My Mom’s house of course…so glad she understands me.
