Most people haven’t heard of Eva Cassidy, her stunning voice and tragic life have largely gone unnoticed in the United States. She has become one of my favorite singers and I think you will be truly moved by her life and music.
It will take some time. Here is an old Nightline “Encore” presentation of her tragic and remarkable story.
“Songbird” is one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s a Fleetwood Mac song, written by Christine McVie on the Rumours album and it was THE love song for young-me.
I love Christine McVie and prefer her over her cape- wearing counterpart Stevie Nicks. Eva Cassidy’s version of the song will just make you cry, especially after knowing her story.
Simply overwhelming.
It’s astonishing, but in 2005, Amazon.com released a list of its top 25 best-selling musicians, which placed Eva in 5th position! Right behind The Beatles, U2, Norah Jones and Diana Krall. It is just so sad that she didn’t live to produce more music and to see the happiness she brought to the world.

Well, today is a bad day for me…the anniversary of my dad being gone and all….and then I watched Part 1, 2, 3….and well- let’s just say I am crying. For her. For me….just for every darn good person who has to die too soon. Thanks for sharing…I never would have known about her I don’t think. I will download her music- but I am gonna have to wait a bit to actually listen to it. Or at least until I can get some waterproof mascara….. 🙂

What an incredible voice. I never heard of her. I just spent the last half hour watching the youtube clips and listening on Amazon. And I’m crying. Such a heartbreaking story. I can’t help but imagine what an absolutely amazing moment that must have been to hear her sing What a Wonderful World that last time, knowing that it was the last time. Thanks for posting about her.

Thank you extremely very much. I can’t over Fields Of Gold or Over The Rainbow. One thing more – in addition to her angelic soaring voice and her deeply heartfelt feeling – there’s the guitar work, solid, tasty finger-picking underpinning everything she does. It makes me want to pick up my guitar again and learn how to play ‘Eva Cassidy style’.

I discovered Eva Cassidy about 8 years ago – she is still one of my favourites. She does an amazing rendition of ‘Tall trees in Georgia’. I love Autumn Leaves too.
